Assuming four cloud to ground flashes per kilometre squared per year per average. A standard size house is ten by twenty metres squared equals two hundred metres squared. So a direct strike to the house when lightning hits within ten metres is a predicted strike (1200 * 4)/1,000,000 equals 4.8 * 10^-3 or once each two hundred years. Therefore one out of two hundred houses will be struck per year. Assuming population is about 280 million; one thousand lightning victims per year per average. Odds equal 1:280,000 of being struck by lightning.

Kids really watch their parents. My daughter is getting into Anime (which I have to approve first, because there's some that even I find distasteful). My son is into Star Wars. They both enjoy watching me play Final Fantasy IV, VI, and VII and paying Magic (they will team up against me).

I find this odd, because I always encouraged them to be their own people and family activities were usually riding bikes, going to park, and things similar to that. Nerding out was how I relaxed. It was my time. I'll see how long it lasts.
